Big IT Projects, Done Right the First Time.
From Microsoft 365 migrations to full infrastructure overhauls, Ashton manages the complexity so you don't have to. On time. On budget. Without disrupting your business.
Why IT Projects Go Wrong — and How Ours Don't
Most IT projects fail for the same few reasons: scope creep, poor communication, underestimated complexity, and a vendor who over-promises and under-delivers. At Ashton, we've done enough of these to know exactly where projects go sideways — and we've built our process around preventing it. We start every project with a clear scope, a realistic timeline, and defined milestones. We communicate proactively throughout. And we don't close a project until everything works the way it's supposed to. Not the way it was easier to configure. The way it's supposed to work.
Clear Scope. No Surprises.
We define exactly what we're doing, what it will cost, and what success looks like before we start. Then we deliver on it.
Experienced Project Management
Every project has a dedicated Ashton lead who coordinates the work, keeps stakeholders informed, and holds everyone accountable.
Minimal Business Disruption
We plan around your operations — scheduling work during off-hours when needed and communicating every step of the way.
Microsoft 365 Migration
Cloud Collaboration & Email
M365 Migration That Actually Goes Smoothly.
Microsoft 365 is the right platform for most SMBs, but getting there requires careful planning. Data migration, license assignment, mailbox configuration, security settings, SharePoint and Teams setup, and end-user training all need to happen in the right order without taking your team offline. Ashton has managed dozens of M365 migrations for small and mid-sized businesses, and we've built a process that minimizes disruption and gets your team up and running fast. We don't just flip the switch — we make sure everything is configured correctly, securely, and in a way that actually makes your team more productive.
- Pre-migration assessment and planning
- Data migration (email, files, contacts, calendars)
- License assignment and user setup
- Security configuration (MFA, Defender, etc.)
- SharePoint and Teams configuration
- End-user training and adoption support
Infrastructure Upgrades
Servers | Storage | Network
Infrastructure That Performs Today and Scales Tomorrow.
Outdated infrastructure is a slow bleed: slower performance, more downtime, higher security risk, and eventually a failure at the worst possible time. Ashton plans and executes infrastructure upgrades with minimal disruption: server upgrades and replacements, storage consolidation, network redesigns, and cloud migration. We don't just install hardware — we design solutions that fit how your business actually operates and where it's going.
- Infrastructure assessment and roadmap
- Server procurement, setup, and migration
- Storage consolidation and optimization
- Network redesign and implementation
- Cloud migration (Azure, AWS, hybrid)
- Post-deployment testing and documentation
New Location Buildouts
Opening a New Office or Facility
New Location, Ready from Day One.
Opening a new location is already complicated enough. Let Ashton handle the IT side so you can focus on everything else. We scope, procure, install, and configure everything your new space needs — network infrastructure, workstations, printers, phones, security cameras, access controls — and coordinate with your construction schedule to make sure you're operational the moment you open the doors.
- Site assessment and technology planning
- Network infrastructure design and installation
- Workstation procurement and configuration
- Phone system setup (VoIP)
- Security and surveillance systems
- Coordination with construction timeline
Security Projects
Targeted Security Improvements
Specific Security Gaps, Specifically Fixed.
Sometimes a business doesn't need a full managed security program — it needs a specific problem solved. Multi-factor authentication deployment. Firewall replacement and reconfiguration. Email security implementation. A security awareness training program rolled out across the organization. Ashton executes targeted security projects efficiently, with the same documentation and quality standards we bring to every engagement.
- MFA deployment and user enrollment
- Firewall procurement, installation, and configuration
- Email security (anti-phishing, spam filtering, encryption)
- Endpoint security deployment
- Security awareness training rollout (KnowBe4)
- Security documentation and policy creation
Projects That Actually Deliver
Every IT project Ashton takes on comes with our complete documentation, proactive communication, and a team that stays accountable until the last detail is done.
"Ashton and their team of professionals had different people assigned to each piece of the project but when they came upon roadblocks they worked through them to correct them at a basic foundational level. They didn't try to just put a band aid on it which was so critically important to us [...] being able to connect people is really important and the speed and quality and friendliness with which they did that was incredible. Far exceeded my expectations."
The Ashton Project Approach
We've built a process that eliminates the most common reasons IT projects fail.
Discover & Scope
Every project starts with a deep discovery — understanding your current environment, your goals, your constraints, and what success looks like. We build a detailed scope of work before anything else, so there are no surprises mid-project. If we find something during discovery that changes the picture, we tell you immediately.
Plan & Execute
With scope defined, we build a realistic project plan with clear milestones, communication checkpoints, and scheduled work windows that minimize disruption to your team. Our project lead owns the coordination end-to-end, including any third parties or vendors involved.
Validate & Document
We don't close a project until everything is tested, documented, and verified. Post-project documentation becomes part of your Ashton network documentation, which means every future support interaction benefits from knowing exactly how everything was set up.
IT Projects Across Key Industries
Common Questions About IT Projects
How do you scope an IT project?
We start with a discovery conversation and often a site assessment. From there, we build a detailed scope of work that covers deliverables, timeline, dependencies, and cost. We don't start work until you've reviewed and approved the scope.
Can you do projects outside of business hours to minimize disruption?
Absolutely. For migrations, cutovers, and major infrastructure work, we regularly schedule execution during evenings or weekends. We plan this collaboratively with your team.
Do you handle vendor coordination?
Yes. We manage relationships with third-party vendors — internet providers, software vendors, hardware manufacturers — as part of our project management. You shouldn't have to track down a vendor when things aren't going according to plan.
What if we discover additional issues during the project?
We tell you immediately and clearly. If something is outside the agreed scope, we discuss it openly and give you options before proceeding. No surprise invoices.
Do you provide training after a project is complete?
Yes — particularly for platform migrations like Microsoft 365. End-user adoption is often the difference between a project that delivers ROI and one that doesn't. We include training and support to make sure your team actually uses what we've built.
Do we need to be an Ashton managed services client to engage for a project?
No — we take project work from businesses that aren't managed services clients. That said, many project clients find that the ongoing relationship is valuable, and we're always happy to talk about what that looks like.
